Every couple wants stylish, elegant wedding invitations, but they want them at a lower cost. It’s not too much to ask and the answer lies in paper quality.
The type of paper you decide on determines whether you will have an expensive price tag or inexpensive wedding invitations.
Wedding invitation cards are made from stock paper and is generally measured by weight. If the paper has a higher number, the paper is thicker. The thicker the paper the more you will pay for it.
Thicker paper cannot be put through a regular printer, so that too can add up to higher costs for you.
Handmade paper is nice too look at, more luxurious. This paper cannot be put through a regular printer as it will cause the printer to jam up. This paper can only be printed on through the more expensive, letterpress, silk screening, or engraving process. Each piece must be fed through, one at a time, and can really jack up the total price.
Now onto the envelopes. These too are measured by weight. The thicker the paper, the higher the number. Select an envelope that covers the invitation completely and doesn’t show through.
To cut costs further, leave out the extra outer envelope, reception card, tissue. Instead use lined envelopes, which look expensive, without the added cost or expensive postage.
You could also use reply postcards instead of reply cards or ask your guests to r.s.v.p. by email, phone, or wedding website.
