Most hobbies you have to pay to do, but after the initial investment, you can actually make a nice sideline income from beekeeping. Beekeeping is a hobby that many people enjoy. Bees are interesting, and they produce honey and beeswax, both of which are highly marketable.
Keeping bees will get you outside for a couple of hours a month, and since bees go dormant in the winter, once the hive is prepared to winter over, you won’ t need to touch it again till spring.
To keep bees you will need some specialized equipment. To start out you will need to find a honey bees hive for sale, a beekeeper suit, and a smoker. If you are ambitious you can actually build your own beehive. But whatever equipment you buy, make sure you also buy a book or take a course, so you know what you are doing.
