The Way To Survive Weight Loss Plateau

If you’ve been strictly following a fitness club and doing the same routine for this past couple of weeks now, you might be experiencing the frustrating effects of a weight loss plateau. Fortunately, there are ways to get through this challenging phase; most people who work hard to get themselves fit went through this and many of them have overcame the plateau. And just like the main factors you consider in achieving fitness, the same things should be given attention in defeating the plateau effect- exercise and nutrition- but this time, you need to focus more on variety.

Add variety to your workouts. When you’ve been doing the same routine for several weeks now, your body gets used to it and becomes less effective in terms of gaining muscle or burning fat. There are several things you can do to make your old routines work for you again. You can make your exercise more challenging by doing it for longer periods of time, by doing more reps or by adding more weights in strength training. You can also try doing your exercise more often; you can do it more times in a week or maybe twice a day if you’ve been doing it only once a day. Another suggestion is that you follow a different workout every 3 weeks to avoid this plateau effect. You can try different types of exercise every 3 weeks like from jogging to incline walking, from doing weight training to yoga, or you may also choose to do different activities each time you workout. The important thing here is you find a way to do things differently; this concept also applies when it comes to your diet plan.

Your creativity need not be limited to thinking up new routine combinations and different exercises; you may also apply it in fixing your diet. You can try eating less carbs or more protein, if you have been eating a balanced protein/carbohydrate diet. You don’t need to starve yourself, you need to eat healthy and think of other foods that are low in calories if you need to reduce your calorie intake. If you need to eat the same amount of calorie, eat different types of food. These are a few ideas to combat the weight loss plateau.
