The sun can be very damaging to your skin and can cause lines, spots and poor texture to anyone who is exposed, overexposure to sunlight can also cause cancer, yet many people spend hours everyday on their holidays sunbathing without taking any precautions whatsoever. We are exposed to three types of radiation from the sun’s rays, these are infrared light, visible and ultraviolet. While the first two generate heat and provide light, the third is responsible for the damaging effects caused to our skin. No matter which skin care treatment you adopt, if you are regularly exposed to the suns rays and do not use protection your skin is at risk.
To protect your skin from these harmful rays you should stay out of direct sunlight as much as possible and if you must go out, wear protective clothing and sunglasses. In addition to this you should wear sunscreen on all exposed areas. Note, it is recommended that babies under six months old should not wear sunscreen as it is too harsh on their delicate skin, instead they should be kept out of the sun or covered when it is necessary to go outside.
