So you want to learn to play electric guitar eh? The guitar is a beautiful instrument to master, and you can explore different grounds by changing the guitar you play. Of course, each type of guitar has its techniques and requires a somewhat different approach to master. So the best way to start could be by defining what style of guitar you want to play.
There’s nothing wrong in learning both, but focusing in the beginning can take you a long way rather quickly. In my specific case, I started with an acoustic guitar (I couldn’t afford an electric one), for years I played it until I finally could buy my guitar. There were so many things I couldn’t do well on my classical cheap guitar, like for example bends and tapping.
