Real estate sales in the South of France have taken a big hit over the last year just as they have globally. Interestingly property for sale in the Languedoc has seen a slow down in sales and some price drops but has not, on the whole, tanked completely. In fact France as a whole is already starting to come out of recession and the property market hasn’t suffered that much. The reasons are fairly clear. Banks have stricter lending laws here so personal debt has not been such a problem. Also house price rises have not been so steep so the retraction has not been so drastic either.

Enquires from property buyers has now picked up again but it’s fair to say these new buyers are looking for a bargain as the market situation is far from clear just yet.
