Friesian Horses

The friesian horse is light draft horse.  It was used in the middle ages as a war horse until the armor got too heavy and the larger drafts were needed.  They are mostly used for harness work, especially team carriage because they are easier to match, and they’re starting to become more popular in dressage.  Though they are most famous for their black color.  I guess they are the Ford Model T of horses, any color as long as it is black.

When looking for friesian horses for sale determine what you want to do with the horse because many breeders are breeding for a more modern style.  (Read modern as girly, lighter boned, more agile.)  So if wanted to do some farm work you’ll have a harder time finding a tradtional breeder.
