Having extra storage for your propane means never having to worry about running out of propane. When snow or ice is on the roads, you are going to have enough propane to wait out the storm before you need propane. Since it is common to lose power during winter electrical storms, many electric heating systems as well as those that depend on electricity for pumps and blowers, do not work on some of the coldest days of the year. One big advantage of using propane to heat your home is that propane heaters do not need electricity to run. In fact, you can use propane to run a back up generator to operate your home when those storms do hit. Electrical power is not worth much when the lines are down.
