Easily Replace Your Range Hood

One of the easiest parts of any kitchen remodeling job is to replace your old, outdated range hood with a newer one. No matter what look you are wanting to achieve, a new hood will spruce up your kitchen and make it more efficient as well.

So, how do you replace your kitchen range hood? It is actually pretty easy with a couple of basic tools that most people have around the home. However, there is one primary safety consideration that must not be ignored.

When you are wanting to replace your old and worn out range hood, with safety in mind, you will need to turn off the electricity that supplies the light and/or fan in the hood itself. Just turning off the power switch on the hood does nothing as there is still electricity flowing to the hood.

You will want to make sure that the electrical breaker to the hood system is turned off. Sometimes this might mean that you need to turn off the power to the entire kitchen, depending upon when your home was built and how the electric is run.

Once you turn off the breaker, you will still want to make sure that the electric is off by using a volt meter or other device to measure for electrical current.
