Hair loss affects millions of Americas every year. Behind this epidemic we can actually trace a few common causes back to hair loss. We will take a look at some of these common causes of hair loss to help you prevent it from happening or help you to answer why you may have been experiencing the sudden loss of hair.
The first cause to look at is your genetics. Aging is something we haven’t figured out how to beat, although we come close to slowing it down with a healthier lifestyle but it can lead to hair loss. As men and women age our hair will start to thin out and even disappear.
Losing hair is a natural process of life and by knowing your family history you can determine if you will go bald. Going bald because of your age doesn’t mean you are an old person many people start to go bald when they are in their 20’s. It is based on your genetic makeup that has been passed onto you from generations past.
Another cause of hair loss is also something that affects our bodies and that is stress. Stress is the cause to several health issues and hair loss is one of them. Stress can either be emotional or physical and both can cause you to abruptly loose patches of hair. If stress is the cause you normally don’t notice the hair loss until after a stressful period.
When we are in the grips of prolonged stress our bodies stop producing new hair follicles to replace the old ones. Over time we will notice bald patches where the hair hasn’t grown back in. This balding pattern is typically temporary and the body will resume normal hair growth after the stress has passed but if the stress was prolonged for too long the hair loss may be permanent.
These are the common causes of hair loss in most Americans today. Stress on our minds and body and our genetic makeup can dictate when and if we are going to lose our hair. In some cases hair loss is preventable such as in stress related cases but in others such as hereditary hair loss may be permanent.
