Supporters of the Oklahoma State Football team will have plenty to look forward to going forward to the 2012 season. Although the OU football program broke the school record for number of wins in a season, there is still room for improvement. If the team tightens up the defensive lapses, they could conceivably contend for the national title next year. Arguably, they were in contention for the title throughout the 2011 season, but while their high-octane offense put up a lot of points, their defense let in too many for a team with national championship aspirations.

Although Coach Mike Gundy has always given cause for optimism, even he could not have expected his team to reach the heights that they did this year. The season started at home with a warm-up style game against Louisiana-Lafayette, and the Cowboys, as expected, handled the weaker team with a 61-34 hammering. The next week, against Arizona, Oklahoma still romped, but with a much more conservative scoreline of 37-14.

The next game saw the Cowboys go on the road to face Tulsa, and they dispatched the Golden Hurricane without much trouble, breezing to a 59-33 victory. The opener against Big 12 opposition had Oklahoma State traveling to College Station to take on the Aggies of Texas A&M. Although Texas is always a tough away game, the Cowboys managed to escape from College Station with a 30-29 victory. The next home game was against struggling Kansas, but Gundy managed to keep his team focused according to NewsOK.com sports, and they pounded Kansas by a score of 70-28.

Another struggling team, Texas, hosted the Cowboys in Austin the next week. Although the Longhorns were having a poor year, a rivalry is still a rivalry, but the Cowboys managed to leave the Lone Star State without getting hooked by any ‘Horns, 38-26. Another trip on the road saw the Cowboys beating Missouri the next week by a score of 45-24. Oklahoma State returned home for consecutive home games against Baylor and Kansas State. It is certain that while the Cowboys were riding a win streak, Coach Mike Gundy would still have liked to see his defense post a shutout, or at least shut a team down. The best test for his defense would be against Baylor’s free-scoring offense, and the Cowboys’ defense rose to the occasion, holding Baylor to 24 points in a 59-24 romp. One week later, however, Kansas State served up all that the Cowboys could handle, and Oklahoma State was lucky to return home with a 52-45 win.

With the next game on the road against Texas Tech, Oklahoma State showed no sign in having a letdown, and no sign of letting up, with a 66-6 thrashing over Texas Tech. Their letdown, however, would be served up by Iowa State the next week, with the Cowboys finally falling, in overtime, 37-31. The next week, in the game that perhaps the Cowboys had been looking past Iowa State for, Oklahoma State handled their business, winning 44-10 against rivals Oklahoma. The BCS win over Stanford gave the third-ranked Oklahoma State Football program an excellent ending to a record-breaking year, and a springboard to the 2012 season.

During this process, the fuel is burned and gases form which create the force needed to propel the bullet out of the firearm. The more forceful this combustion process is, the further the bullet will travel. Unlike the single smooth projectile which is used in regular ammo for sale, a shot-gun has a distinctly different design to it. Rather than narrowing at the top, it is the same width from top to bottom. It also has reversed proportions to that of a regular bullet.

The top two-thirds of the ammunition contains the shot, while the lower one-third has the powder and rim. A shot-gun shell actually contains numerous pellets or beads of lead, steel, or bismuth. When the firearm is set off, these pellets are projected outward in a scattering pattern that is able to cover a broader range of area. Rather than having to rely on a single kill shot, these beads help assure that the target will be hit in numerous places around the focal target area. Historically speaking, the NHL has never seen a large number of African Americans within its player base. That is difference of around 500,000 for the MLB and 4.5 million for the NBA. It is no wonder athletes would choose a completely different sport over hockey. If you look at superstar salaries the differences are even more staggering. This is also true of the NFL, in spite of the fact the average NFL player makes less than the average NHL player. Regardless, a superstar in the NFL will make significantly more than a superstar in the NHL. The financial motivation to play in a different sport is obvious. Another reason African Americans might pass on the NHL deals with popularity. While the NHL has huge following of devoted fans, other sports receive more publicity. The situation allows for outside advertising contracts. How often, in media, do you witness a hockey player’s endorsement compared to that of a basketball or football player? In short, if you want to be known, then hockey might not be the best medium. The other major American sports offer much more coverage and media exposure.

One change that was made in the summer of 2004 was the redesigned medal. The medal previous to the new design was made in 1928 and had been used since then. In a game of mini basketball, everything – from the court down to the ball – would be stripped down to a size suitable for little kids. The usual mini diagram of a basketball court would be around 26 meter by 14 meters, with the height of the backboard being 2.6 meters from the floor.
