Encourage your Child to Emulate you with Toy Food items
Jul 22nd, 2010 by GuestPoster

Young children love to emulate the activities of their parents. To encourage their joy in doing this, many toy companies manufacture products to make their emulation more realistic. You will see this in the line of toy food items available for children to use in their play. Most of these food products are constructed from a molded plastic so they resemble the specific piece of food. An ear of corn will have each kernel in detail, while a slice of pizza will also have the various toppings molded into the design.

The colors for these foods are added directly into the plastic solution so they are non-toxic toys for children to use. In addition to the various replicated food items, you will also see some reproductions in boxed and canned goods. The boxed items are constructed from real cardboard and usually have the imprinted image of a popular brand on them. The canned items are made of the same durable plastic as the food, but will come with a paper label that also usually has a famous brand as its image. This makes the child feel as though they are cooking with the same ingredients as mom or dad uses.

There are a few specialty food packages that have specific items such as those found in a popular fast food chain. Some may have dessert products such as ice cream and cake. All of the toy food products are available in different sized packages that can include six items or sixty items. They are the perfect addition to use with a play kitchen set or a table and chair set. They also can be a lot of fun to use with a set of play dishes and pots and pans. All of these items are available at most department stores that carry toys for children.

How To Become a Great Criminal Attorney
Jul 12th, 2010 by GuestPoster

No matter what a person does for a living or a career, chances are you want to be great at it. And, thankfully, few people are born great, so you have a chance. The flip side of that, however, is that to be great you must work your butt off to get there. And I should know, I wasn’t born a great Seattle criminal attorney. In fact, I’m still not one. But I think I know how to get there, and I’m going to tell you today.

Becoming a great criminal attorney requires a couple of things. One of those things is working hard every day to become better. That means taking a little bit of time each day to read a little bit about trial advocacy, or read a little bit about criminal procedure, or read a little bit about DUI law. Whatever it is you are working on or focusing on, continue to learn about it. You will become better over time.

Another element required to be a criminal lawyer, sadly, is time. Malcolm Gladwell has a book out right now, which I can’t remember the title of, but the premise of it is this – it takes almost everyone about 10,000 hours before they really become great at it. Think about what that means. If you spend 8 hours a day working your butt off to become a great criminal attorney, it will take you a little over 5 years before you can consider yourself to be an expert at something. And we aren’t spending 40 hours a week getting better. There’s a lot of other crap in there.

In addition to reading a little bit every day about the practice of criminal law, I also take every opportunity that is provided to me to attend continuing legal education classes. Some people see these things as a chore. Me? I see them as an opportunity to get better. That means I only take classes that will help me, and I don’t look at the price tag when deciding what I’m going to do.

In the end, you have to decide you want to become great in order to do it. It takes hard work, it takes perseverance, and it takes time. Good luck.

Oregon Unemployment Benefits Guide
Dec 13th, 2009 by Whale

Unemployment rates are raising and workers are scrambling to get the help from the state and federal governments. Oregon unemployment trend generally keeps up with the national rates. This guide explains how to file for unemployment in Oregon State. For more detailed  instructions refer to Oregon unemployment guide, which covers qualification criteria, office numbers, compensation amount etc.

The very first step would be to contact State Unemployment Insurance agency, soon after you have hast lost the job. Many States including Oregon allow citizens to file a claim by phone or through the Internet. When you file your state insurance claims, you will have to present some basic information, such as home address, job records etc. Make sure you give thorough and accurate information otherwise your case may get delayed.

Next step is to make sure you have eligibility to claim unemployment benefits. Oregon State imposes stringent restrictions for you to establish such eligibility. You must have lost job through no fault of your own. Basically you employer must have terminated your job position. If you resign for your personal reason, it won’t count. State also requires you to look for new job actively. You cannot stay home and claim benefits indefinitely. To get benefits, you must have earned enough “credits” from your previous jobs. You must have worked in some full-time positions and earned wages.

Next phase is to prepare the documentation required to submit the application. Generally you require the following:

  • Past employment history such as business name and mailing address of the employer.
  • Employee details such as name, SSN, telephone number etc.
  • How you lost the job – voluntary or not

State unemployment agencies generally take two to four weeks to process your application. There will be a one-week waiting period; hence, the second week claimed is the first week of payment.

You should always try to file application online. You can create your account and submit the application with the state unemployment agency. However, if you want apply over phone, call the toll-free number at 877-877-1781 if you live NW Oregon. 877-728-7970 for SW region and 800-663-7914 for Central/Eastern region. If you live outside of Oregon call 800-982-8920. For weekly claims call the local office or 800-982-8920.

There are currently three benefit extensions available.

  • EUC Tier 1 provides up to 20 weeks of additional benefits to claimants exhausting regular benefits, or whose regular claim expired after May 1, 2007.
  • EUC Tier 2 provides up to 14 weeks of additional benefits to claimants who exhaust Tier 1 benefits with the payment of the week December 20-26, 2009 or before.
  • EUC Tier 3 provides up to 13 weeks of additional benefits to claimants who exhaust Tier 2 benefits with the payment of the week December 20-26, 2009 or before.
  • EUC Tier 4 provides up to 6 weeks of additional benefits to claimants who exhaust Tier 3 benefits with the payment of the week December 20-26, 2009 or before.
Start a stamp collection
Nov 8th, 2009 by Whale

If you have a love of Postage Stamps you should begin a stamp collection. It is so easy as many of your friends and relatives will throw away envelopes and letters containing used stamps. There is no cost involved as you do not have to buy new stamps, indeed, many collectors prefer to have used stamps that are franked. Franked stamps give the time and date the stamp was used. Postal stamps themselves come in many shapes and colors. You can confine your collection to varieties of stamps, picture stamps or Christmas stamps. A friend of mine only collects stamps with birds depicted on them. Most countries have issued bird stamps and a great deal can be learned geographically about countries but also about their culture and local wildlife which is often depicted on stamps. First Day Covers are for specialist collectors who will retain the full envelope or card specially dated for the first day of the stamps issue. If this hobby pleases you then you can combine it with postcard collecting.

Introduction To Digital Photography Techniques
Sep 24th, 2009 by Whale

Digital photography is more advantageous when compared to traditional photography. However, a digital photographer should possess some digital photography techniques if he or she wants to maintain the quality manifested by the digital photography. He or she should have the tips on how to take good photos creatively. He or she should have knowledge of how to compose fine shots, use light, take close ups, self portraits and even action shots. There are different digital photography techniques that a person should have.

The first such technique is regarding the depth of field. Human eyes are different from the lens in that while the former can select a specific object in ideal focus, the latter selects a particular focal point as well as the depth of the field. This difference means that a digital photographer must make a decision on whether he or she wants to portray only one object or all the objects. One should be able to utilize a technique that uses many exposures in creating one photo which is composed of numerous focal points, in the same way the eyes can glance near and distant in a scene. Having such a technique enables digital photographers to come up with print which is sharper and less noisy.

The other important technique is the dynamic range. Human eyes are in a position to adjust when conditions change such as when they focus on a section that is of different brightness. One can see details of what is in a darkroom as well as those outside. Digital cameras may not be in a position to capture scenes with different variation of brightness. Such scenes include those that have alternating moonlight and electrically light objects. A photographer should be in a position to expose a photo numerous times for different intensity regions and eventually combine the images for random lighting geometry. This would allow him or her to come up with diverse scenes in print (photographic).

Field of view is the other significant digital photography technique that a photographer should possess. Human eyes are able to include a field of view that is broader as compared to lens. To get such a result and to increase image detail, the photographer can point his or her camera in numerous adjoining directions for every exposure. He or she can eventually combine them digitally to come up with one seamless image.

A digital photographer can utilize the sum of functionality that is built in digital cameras. He or she can do this by applying creativity and ingenuity to come up with photos that appeal to the eyes of those viewing them.

Angular Cheilitis Ruined My Halloween Costume
Sep 22nd, 2009 by Whale

I’ve had Angular Cheilitis, Stomatitis, Chelitis, or what most of us simply call torn mouth corners off and on for several years. The repeated bouts of it seem to be lasting longer and longer with each new episode.

In case you aren’t aware of the symptoms of cracked mouth corners, it is a very unsightly affliction which appears at the angles of your mouth.

When the condition really gets bad, the split mouth corners go into a cycle of bleeding, crusting over, and then re-opening. It is not only embarrassing, but it also hurts like crazy.

This year for Halloween, three of my friends and I were going to dress up as the four Bengal tigers we’d seen at the fair this year. I was to be the almost totally white one.

I had to use white face cover, and with all the excitement, I opened my mouth too wide and caused my mouth corner splits to reopen and start bleeding. Well, as you can imagine, I looked more like a tiger from some horror show.

My costume was destroyed, and I felt like everyone was staring at me. I’ve got to find the Angular Cheilitis cure that will permanently stop these embarrassing situations from occurring.

Medical Billing and Coding Certification Guide
Jul 22nd, 2009 by Whale

Medical billing and coding certification will earn you the designation as a Certified Professional Coder which is a great entry point into the medical billing career.  Unfortunately not many individuals choose to start because the time frame for training seems to be too long (15-24 months).

As a CPC you will be well versed in ICD-9-CM diagnosis codes, HCPCS dealings and have a full understanding of what it takes to be a medical billing coder.  As it is with many careers you will have to maintain continued education credits which takes place yearly.

Certified Professional Coder is a great way to change into a new field, a nice starting job from high school or if life has changed for you and you are in need of a new job.
